17. Session India Pale Ale

Session IPAs are straw to copper. Chill haze is acceptable and hop haze is allowable at any temperature. Fruity esters are low to medium. Hop aroma and flavor are medium to high and can display qualities from a wide variety of hops from all over the world. Overall hop character is assertive. Hop bitterness is medium to high. A low to medium maltiness should be present in aroma and flavor. Diacetyl if evident should be very low. Body is light to medium. Beers exceeding 4.0% abw (5.0% abv) are not considered Session India Pale Ales.
To allow for accurate judging the brewer must provide additional information about the entry including the IPA style of underlying base beer. Beer entries not accompanied by this information will be at a disadvantage during judging.

Apparent Extract/Final Gravity (°Plato) : 1.008-1.014 (2.1-3.6 °Plato)
Alcohol by Weight (Volume) : 3.0%-4.0% (3.8%-5.0%)
Bitterness (IBU) : 40-55
Color SRM (EBC) : 3-12 (6-24)
