77-A. English-Style Extra Special Bitter

English ESBs are amber to deep copper. Chill haze is acceptable. Fruity esters are acceptable. Hop aroma, flavor and bitterness are medium to medium-high. Malt aroma and flavor are medium to medium-high. Mild carbonation traditionally characterizes cask conditioned versions, but in bottled versions, a slight increase in carbon dioxide content is acceptable. The overall impression is refreshing and thirst quenching. Diacetyl if evident should be very low. Body is medium. Beers in this substyle exhibit hop aroma and flavor attributes typical of traditional English hop varieties.

　イングリッシュESBの色合いは、アンバーから濃いカッパー（銅色）の範囲。冷温白濁があっても許される。フルーティーなエステルが感じられてもよい。ホップのアロマとフレーバーおよび苦味は、ミディアムからミディアム・ハイ・レベル。モルトのアロマとフレーバーもミディアムからミディアム・ハイ・レベル。カスク・コンディションのものは伝統的にカーボネーションがマイルドであるが、ボトル入りのものはカーボネーション・レベルをいくぶん高めに設定してもよい。全体の印象は、爽やかで、喉の渇きを癒すのに相応しいビールである。ダイアセチルが感じられても、非常にロー・レベルであれば許される。ボディはミディアム。このビアスタイルからは、伝統的な英国品種のホップ特有のアロマとフレーバーが感じられなければならない。

Hop aroma, flavor and bitterness are medium to medium-high and typical of American or other origin hop varieties. Malt aroma and flavor are medium to medium-high. Mild carbonation traditionally characterizes cask conditioned versions, but in bottled versions, a slight increase in carbon dioxide content is acceptable. The overall impression is refreshing and thirst quenching. Diacetyl if evident should be very low. Body is medium to full. Beers in this substyle exhibit hop aroma and flavor characters typical of hops of many origins, which may deviate substantially from the hallmark attributes typical of traditional English hop varieties.
