36-F. Other Smoke Beer

Other Smoke Beers are any beer of any style incorporating smoke, and therefore may range from very light to black. Appearance varies with underlying style. Hop aroma, flavor and bitterness are also variable with underlying style. Malt aroma and flavor are variable with underlying style. Any style of beer can be smoked. The goal is to reach a balance between the style's character and the smoky properties. For Smoke Beers based on lager styles, any phenolic notes (if present) should be derived from smoke; in such lagers yeast-derived phenolics should not be present. Body is variable with underlying style.
To allow for accurate judging the brewer must provide additional information about the entry including the beer style being smoked, the wood type used as a smoke source (“alder smoked Dry Stout” for example), other ingredients and processes used. When the base beer does not conform to any existing style in this guideline, brewer may indicate "out of existing style". Beer entries not accompanied by this information will be at a disadvantage during judging.

36-F. その他のスモークビール

　その他のスモークビールは、スモーク・フレーバー（燻煙香）をつけているが、上記のサブスタイルに該当しないビールである。したがって色合いは、ベースにしたビアスタイルに基づき、非常に明るい色からブラックまで範囲が広い。外観もベースにしたビアスタイルに基づく。ホップのアロマ、フレーバー、苦味はもとより、モルトのアロマとフレーバーもベースにしたスタイルに基づく。どんなビールもスモークすることができるが、ベースにしたスタイルのキャラクターとスモーキーなキャラクターが釣り合っていることが最も重要である。ラガービールのスタイルをベースにしたスモークビールの場合、フェノーリックなフレーバーがあってもスモークモルト由来のものなら問題ないが、酵母由来のものは許されない。ボディはベースにしたビアスタイルに基づく。
　このスタイルに出品するビールは、ベースにしたビールのスタイル名、スモークに用いた木の種類（たとえば「ハンノキで燻煙したドライスタウト」）、そのほか特別な原料使っていればその名前と用法を明示することが求められる。ベースにしたビールが、このガイドラインに収録されている既存のスタイルのどれにも合致しない場合は「既存のスタイル外」と書いてもよい。これらについての情報が添付されていないビールは、審査の際に不利となる場合がある。
