18-D. American-Style Malt Liquor

American Malt Liquors are straw to gold. Appearance should be clear. Chill haze is not acceptable. Fruity esters and complex alcohol aromas (though not solvent-like) are acceptable at low levels. Hop aroma and flavor are not present. Hop bitterness is very low. Some malt sweetness is present. Beers of this style are varied in character. Some malt liquors are only slightly stronger than American lagers, while others approach bock strength. Diacetyl should not be present. Body is light to medium-light.

18-D. アメリカンスタイル・モルトリカー

　アメリカン・モルトリカーの色合いは、ストロー（麦わら色）からゴールドの範囲。外観はクリアで、冷温白濁は許されない。フルーティーなエステルと多様なフーゼル・アルコールがもたらすアロマは、ロー・レベルであれば認められる（シンナー臭は不可）。ホップのアロマとフレーバーは、まったく感じられない。ホップの苦味は非常にロー・レベル。モルト由来の軽い甘味を伴っている。このスタイルのキャラクターは銘柄ごとに違いが見られ、たとえばアルコール度数に関して、アメリカン・ラガーよりも少しだけ高いものもあれば、ボックに迫るほど高いものもある。ダイアセチルがあってはならない。ボディはライトからミディアム・ライトの範囲。
