106. Other Beer-Flavored Alcohol Beverage

Other Beer-Flavored Alcohol Beverage is made without using any malt, but it has beer-like flavor created by using hops, barley, wheat, other un-malted grains or cereal protein. Also a product made by blending spirits with the Tax-Saving Malt Beverage (Happoushu) is included in this style. In addition, alcohol beverages not applicable to any style in this Style Guideline may also enter for this style as far as they have been flavored and bittered with hops. At judging for this style, overall balance of aroma/flavor, sweetness, bitterness, body, alcohol strength, carbonation, aftertaste, freshness, and maturation are important subjects. DMS, diacetyl, acetaldehyde, T-2-N, and other off-flavors should not be perceived.
To allow for accurate judging the brewer must provide additional information about entries in this style. Comments could include character of aroma/flavor intended by brewer, and materials. Beer entries not accompanied by this information will be at a disadvantage during judging.
