91. Double Red Ale

Double Red Ales are deep amber to dark copper/reddish brown. A small amount of chill haze is allowable at cold temperatures. Fruity-ester aroma is medium. Hop aroma is high, arising from any variety of hops. Hop flavor is high and balanced with other beer characters. Hop bitterness is high to very high. Medium to medium-high caramel malt character is present. Low to medium biscuit or toasted characters may also be present. Alcohol content is medium to high. Complex alcohol flavors may be evident. Diacetyl should not be perceived. Body is medium to full.
