17-B. American-Style Imperial Porter

American Imperial Porters are black. Ale-like fruity-ester aromas should be evident but not overpowering, complimenting malt and hop aromas. Hop aroma and flavor are low to medium-high. Hop bitterness is medium-low to medium. No roast barley or strong burnt/black malt character should be perceived. Medium malt, caramel and cocoa-like sweetness is present. Diacetyl should be absent. Body is full.

　アメリカンスタイル・インペリアル・ポーターの色はブラックである。いかにもエールらしいフルーティーなエステル香がはっきりと感じられるが、ホップのアロマやモルト由来の甘味とバランスよく調和し、それより突出してはいけない。ホップのアロマとフレーバーは、ローないしミディアム・ハイ。ホップの苦味はミディアム・ローからミディアムの範囲。モルト由来の焦げ臭や渋味があってはならない。カラメル香やココア香を伴う甘味が、ミディアム・レベルで感じられる。ダイアセチルは許されない。ボディはフル。
